We put together this short video in July 2008 to demonstrate some of the animation capabilities of the Elflight Engine. The jointed character has been exported from Autodesk Maya into Collada format and then imported directly into the game.
The engine's skeletal animation system is utilised to render the skinned mesh according to the position of the joints. These are controlled by an animation tree which uses bezier and linear interpolations in this example. Morphing is also supported and used to control the facial expression.
The model shown, 'Calamity Jane' is reproduced by kind permission of Michael McKinley from his book "The Game Animator's Guide to Maya". The track Ain't Seen Nothing Yet is reproduced by kind permission of Superego, with production by Seona Dunsmuir and Davy Gray. If you can't see the video above, please ensure that you have the latest version of Flash installed.
