Elflight Engine

Frequently Asked Questions

1. When can I see a demonstration of the Elflight Engine?

A technology preview of 'Elflight' - a multiplayer online game that exploits many of the strengths of the Elflight Engine is in the final stages of development. An announcement will be made on the Coded Edge website when the preview goes live.

2. What are the license terms of the Elflight Engine?

The Elflight Engine, although mature, is still in development. We are not presently planning to license the engine to third parties until final development has been completed.

However, we do plan to launch a service whereby developers will be able to develop their own MMO, virtual world or simulation remotely using the Elflight technology. This will take the form of Everplanes. Your world can either be 'standalone' or accessible via a portal in Everplanes.

Using Everplanes, you will be able to fully expoit all of the features of the Elflight engine.

3. Do you offer development services?

Yes, we do. For further information, please visit the services section of our website.

4. Does the Elflight Engine support UDP for twitch-based games (eg. for an MMOFPS)?

The engine in its present form supports TCP rather than UDP since it wasn't designed to accomodate network-based twitch games.

However, many of the other pieces of the puzzle are there, such as dynamic collision detection.

UDP is something that we may include in the future since the engine's network framework is easily adaptable and it would be a worthwhile addition.
